Greetings
from Africa,
September, 29
was my (Robert) spiritual birthday (1980) and it was Wyla’s (Esther mother’s) 83rd
Birthday. Of these 83 years, she has spent 50 active years as a missionary, in
Congo, Chad and South Africa. Esther arranged a day out for her with some of
her friends, and as a family we had a special birthday party with those she is
resident with. We took cake and ice-cream and then afterwards we sang a number
of her favourite hymns. The Lord has used this time for us to sing as a
family and encourage the old folk in the home. They have begged us to come
back on the 26th of Dec and sing for their Christmas day. Pray
that we can be a testimony to Joerg, the German man who runs the place, and a
blessing to those who live there.
The past
months have been filled for me, with a needed visit to the US back in August.
September was our Mission’s Conference and first week in October we had annual
5 day youth outreach “Youth Explosion”. I must add this, while we were praying
as a family for the Youth Explosion outreach, Jordan prayed “Lord help the
explosion at the church to go well.” Needless to say he had us trying to hold
back our laughter ‘till we were done with prayer.
The Lord did
bless the youth outreach, in that we had over 70 youth come out. The theme
was “I’m in the Lords army”
In the
recording studio, we have a problem with our main computer that we record with.
I believe the hard drive is faulty. I’m hoping to get all the programs off
before it crashes totally. We have programs done till the end of the year. Then
we are planning to make some change to our format, starting in the New Year.
They are minor changes like adding an email and P.O. Box change. We do
praise the Lord for a letter we received from Luanda, Angola from a listener
that has been following the broadcast since 2002. An interesting thing is
this man learnt Lingala in Angola, and not the Congo. The Radio program not only
is heard in Congo, but 10 surrounding countries. Continue to pray for its
effectiveness and ability to be heard.
Our evening
Bible College is continuing on, on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings.
We are thankful for the young men and women who are giving this time to study
the word, and prepare themselves for further service.
We truly lack
men in the church, and whole families. Again we covet your prayer for
salvation and commitment of families to the Lord and following Him.
In Christ,
Robert,
